Movement

Life is like riding a bike.

To keep your balance, you need to keep moving.

Albert Einstein

A year after my vertebral fracture, I was in pain daily despite regular training to maintain/build muscle.

Fortunately, I was then introduced to the world of bouldering. After 2 months, I was free of complaints and was able to pursue my life again, both professionally and privately, pretty much without restrictions.

After my foot injury, I had to take a 6-month break. But then, fortunately, I was able to start slowly again. This was enormously important for my back. I can heartily recommend it to anyone with back problems. But also to everyone else.

Bouldering trains pretty much every muscle in the body, combining fun and training at the same time. In addition to strength, it also requires coordination, balance and dexterity.

Besides that, it also brings me peace of mind, as I absolutely focus my thoughts on bouldering in order to be able to master the challenges on the wall safely and successfully.

I also find it a very social sport. Through bouldering, I've been able to meet a lot of great people.

Before my two accidents, I was a person who would rather spend 5 hours on the bike than stretch for 5 minutes.

However, as part of my two long recoveries, which I am still in, I have come to appreciate both fascia and stretch training tremendously.

I invest about an hour a day in fascia and stretching training. This significantly alleviates my pain. If I can't do it for a few days, I notice muscular imbalances/tensions again more intensely.

Since this helps me a lot and I know quite a bit about anatomy through my studies/work as a doctor, I also offer fascia and stretching training in the bouldering hall in Dübendorf.

Exercise in the fresh air is simply good for you (even if you sometimes have to overcome your inner pig).

I used to hike up to 30 kilometers in a day.

Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment due to pain. However, small walks of 60 to 90 minutes are possible and also very important to me.

However, I am holding on to my dream of hiking all 7 Churfirsten at some point.
